A dream of advanced dairying, realized in 10 years

The NatureFarm smart dairy complex was launched to give dairy farmers — struggling with livestock-environment issues, aging, and unpermitted barns — a foundation on which to continue dairying by moving into a smart dairy complex.

After purchasing the site in 2015 and completing construction in August 2024, a decade-long journey came to fruition: Korea gained its largest dairy farm, able to raise 1,000 milking cows and produce up to 32 tons of milk a day.

01 Regulation

Tighter livestock regulations

Administrative measures such as suspension and closure orders for unpermitted barns have been strengthened. Livestock-restriction zones kept expanding amid manure pollution and community conflicts.

02 Production

Sustaining dairy production

Aging and a shortage of successors keep driving farm closures. Once a production base collapses, it is hard to rebuild. A new alternative was needed.

Rising livestock complaints

Odor complaints from residents kept increasing. With many aging barns, resolving complaints at the individual-farm level reached its limits.
